Top 3 Priorities if Elected:
I WOULD LIKE TO SEEK OFFICIAL CONSENSUS FROM MY FELLOW CITIZENS REGARDING FUTURE ANNEXATION OF COUNTY LANDS
Consensus can be found by a simple ballot inserted into a utility bill. Many residents have told me they feel unrepresented, disenfranchised, and ignored in city matters. Let's find out once and for all how the current residents feel about additional assessments to support further development outside the city limits, and include the facts about water, air, and traffic implications if expansion occurs.
THE CITY DIES IN THE WINTER
I would like to create a year round destination using the slack period to try some new concepts. Why not close off some of the streets closest to the beach and pier and try to attract our local people to a pedestrian friendly plaza, encouraging people to linger instead of passing through. We need more innovative concepts from our vast storehouse of retired residents. AND...since the city is in such good financial shape, I would like to suggest that all municipal projects don't have to make a profit. We should consider the good will generated by a parking structure funded by the city...Even if it's a money-loser. After all, a golf course is also a money-loser.
CURRENTLY, THE CITY OF PISMO BEACH HAS AN UNEASY RELATIONSHIP WITH THE COASTAL COMMISSION, OUR COUNTY SUPERVISORS, L.A.F.C.O., AND THE LUCIA MAR SCHOOL DISTRICT
We should honor our commitments to L.A.F.C.O., and the Lucia Mar School District, and mend fences with the county Supervisors and the Coastal Commission. I have met with most of the supervisors and feel I have established a base for a productive working relationship.
