SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.- San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office says one person collapsed after he had an heart attack during a bicycle riding event on Highway One.
It happened on September 29th. When deputies arrived on scene, two or three local nurses who were riding in the event, performed CPR on 57-year-old Steven Lee Gorman.
At the time, Gorman did not have a pulse. One deputy retrieved his AED (Automated External Defibrillator) from his patrol car. He deployed the defibrillator, shocking Gorman's heart. Gorman then began breathing on his own.
He was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center and then transferred to French Hospital for further treatment.
