Gray Wolf May Joins State's Endangered Species List

Posted: Updated:

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The California Department of Fish and Game Commission has announced gray wolves may be added to the endangered species list.

Last year, a lone gray wolf came to California from a pack in Oregon.  They are already protected as an endangered species, but there has never been a scientific study conducted on wolves in this state.

Officials believe at one point, the species were all across California.  The Department of Fish and Game will study gray wolves over the next year to learn more them and see if they qualify.
