Lower Prices For Lobster Good For Consumer, Bad For Fishermen

Posted: Updated:

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Lobster season opened on Wednesday and fishermen in Santa Barbara are worried over this year's catch. But it could mean cheaper prices for consumers.

Lobsters are selling for a little less than 25 dollars a pound. Lobster fishermen are reporting a 20-percent drop in lobster prices this year. Harbor officials in Santa Barbara say the price drop is because of strong competition in Florida.
