LOS OLIVOS, Calif. -- An local museum in Los Olivos uses art to bring awareness to nature and the environment.

The Wildling Art Museum supports local artists and educates its visitors on environmental awareness.

"Nature and art," says Wildling Art Museum Director Stacey Otte. "We like to marry the two together and the idea with doing that is people walk away inspired to better conserve nature."

The museum hosts Saturday morning arts activities with children as well as tours and workshops to educate school groups and visitors.

It also supports local artists through its Santa Ynez Valley Studio tour at the end of the month.

"An artist we don't have that many art venues in the Valley," says Los Olivos artist Rebecca Gomez. "So it's really a treasure."

Last year, they served about 10,000 people.

One unusual piece at the museum is this sculpture created by an artist in Solvang assembles recycled items together like this movie projector, a desk lamp and even an artificial eye; giving trash new life as art.

"We do need to focus on that kind of subject so that we keep our attention on what we might lose," says Gomez.

You can take a look at some of the pieces at the Wildling art museum studio tour October 26 through the 28th showcasing local artists from the Santa Ynez Valley.
