    A party turns into a shooting involving Sheriff's deputies and a gunman. Shots were fired, and the suspect is now in critical condition. This marks the 8th officer involved shooting in Santa Barbara County this year.

GOLETA, Calif. - An officer involved shooting in Goleta early Saturday morning leaves one man in critical condition. 

It happened on the 4700 block of Andrita Street at around 3:00 AM. 

Deputies responded to a call of shots fired, and when they arrived, found a man standing in the front lawn with a handgun. Other people were seen fleeing the scene. The man confronted deputies, and they returned shots. 

The man was taken to Cottage Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. 

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department is handling the investigation. They do not know yet how many shots were fired, or whether the victim fired on the deputies. The man's name has not been released.
