    A party turns into a shooting involving Sheriff's deputies and a gunman. Shots were fired, and the suspect is now in critical condition. This marks the 8th officer involved shooting in Santa Barbara County this year.

GOLETA, Calif. - The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office has identified Gerardo Martinez as the suspect in an officer involved shooting in Goleta late Friday night. 

Deputies received multiple calls of shots fired in the 4700 block of Andrita Street around 3:00 AM. When deputies responded, they found Martinez standing in the yard of a home holding a semi-automatic handgun. 

He confronted officers, and was shot. He is currently being treated at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, and is in stable condition. 

Martinez is being held on charges of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer with a semi automatic handgun, and a criminal gang enhancement.  His bail is set at $300,000 dollars.
