SB Shoreline Park Safety Improvements Completed

Posted: Updated:

SANTA BARBARA, CA – On Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 11 a.m., the public is welcome to join Mayor Helene Schneider and the Santa Barbara City Council, County Supervisor Janet Wolf, and other elected and appointed officials to celebrate completion of the Shoreline Park Safety Improvement Project.

The Shoreline Park Safety Improvement Project includes the reconstruction of sidewalk lost due to coastal bluff erosion, new paint for park picnic tables and signs, and installation of new park lighting, fencing, landscaping and turf.

Relocation of benches and permanent fencing was installed at MacGillivray Point to protect the public from the potential for sudden cliff failure.

The project was funded by the City's General Fund and a $40,000 grant from Santa Barbara County's Coastal Resource Enhancement Fund, a partial mitigation of impacts from the following offshore and gas projects: Point Arguello, Point Pedernales, and Santa Ynez Unit.
