The Largest Solar Energy Project in Santa Barbara County May Be Approved

Posted: Updated:

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - A big decision Tuesday night on an energy project that would be the largest solar energy project in Santa Barbara county.

The Laguna County Sanitation District's Reclamation Plant collects more than 2 million gallons of waste water daily from the unincorporated areas of Santa Maria. It is then converted to recycled water.

Now, organizers want to upgrade the recycled water operations and build more than eight miles worth of solar panels.

Tuesday evening, an environmental review hearing will either approve the project or send it back to the drawing board.
