SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - A small shed caught fire around 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and was quickly put out in San Luis Obispo.
Police say it happened at a vacant lot at Tank Farm Road and Broad street. The buildings were also vacant including the shed that was on fire when an off duty fire captain passed by.
The shed burned down completely but firefighters managed to keep a second building from catching on fire.
"We have not ruled out potential arson on this fire, " said San Luis Obispo City Fire Battalion Chief Dave Podhorsky. "We're still investigating at this time. We have a crew that's combined from Cal Fire and San Luis Obispo City that's working on the investigation."
Authorities say homeless people sometimes live in the buildings
