SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A gang sweep in Santa Barbara on Wednesday landed several men in jail.
Santa Barbara Police started the gang sweep around 7a.m. this morning at several homes throughout the city. Five police teams were deployed to 19 locations. In total, they made several arrests.
Christian Botello, Marcial Garcia, and Juan Gomez were all arrested for robbery and committing crimes while in a criminal street gang. Additionally, Joaquin Perez and Ronald Contreras were arrested for violating their parole, and for separate marijuana and drug possession charges.
Giovanny Torres and a 17-year-old juvenile were also arrested for violating probation.
Police used a special "Bearcat" vehicle to help ensure the search could be conducted safely.
