SANTA BARBARA COUNTY - According to market research provided by realtor.com, the median list prices for homes in the Santa Barbara/Santa Maria/Lompoc market reached $725,000 in September. The figure represents a 32.05% increase from one year ago and a 3.20 percent decrease from August 2012. In comparison, the national median list price in September 2012 was $191,500.
Sales inventory of homes in the same market was 1,356, a decrease of 30.15 percent from August 2012. The median age of inventory for the Santa Barbara market was 82 days, which represents a 5.13 percent increase compared August 2012. As for national numbers, the median age of inventory was 95 days, a 4.40 percent increase compared to August.
The Santa Barbara/Santa Maria/Lompoc region was the 93rd most searched market in the United States for September 2012. The number is actually in the lower half of the 146 Metropolitan Statistical Areas in the country. The top most researched area in the nation for September was Chicago, Illinois. The most researched area in California was Los Angeles-Long Beach, which ranked fourth nationally.
