Board of Equalization Sends Letters to Santa Maria Businesses

Posted: Updated:

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Santa Maria business owners may get a letter from the California Board of Equalization after they sent out more than 10,000 letters across the state.

Businesses will be notified of upcoming visits from the statewide compliance and outreach board.

They will be checking to make sure all businesses are licensed and are properly reporting sales tax.

The BOE has found about 2 percent of businesses in California do not have permits or licenses.
