Baseball Bat Wielding Robber in Santa Maria Has Recent Criminal History

Posted: Updated:

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - New information tonight on the man police said tried to rob a liquor store with a baseball bat, and ended up on the wrong side of that bat when employees stopped him in his tracks. It turns out the man had a few run-ins with the law recently.

When Aldo Gonzalez was arrested Saturday night, it was already the 4th arrest for the 21-year old in less than 2 years. Last February, Gonzalez was arrested by Santa Maria Police for misdemeanor DUI and driving with a suspended license. Earlier this year, he was arrested again for being a minor in possession of alcohol in public. Last month, Gonzalez was charged with a felony for having and selling drugs.

He's due in court for the DUI and felony charges on October 25th.

After this latest arrest police were able to determine that Gonzalez is a gang member because the bat he used as a weapon had the name of a local gang written on the side of it.
