SANTA MARIA, Calif.- Hundreds of people took to the streets Monday to raise awareness about domestic violence.
It was all part of the 25th annual candlelight vigil march against domestic violence. The hundreds who participated walked from Santa Maria City Hall to Santa Maria High. For many who attended they have real and sometimes tragic stories to share and tell.
"I'm here in support of my cousin, Maria Estrada, she was murdered by her husband last year. We are here for her kids, we're supporting her so that's all that matters to us is that were here for her," says Amber Rivera, victim's cousin.
Organizers say they will continue to host this march next year so more people become aware of domestic violence and get the help they need.
