California State Auctioning Off Vehicles & Equipment

Posted: Updated:

Santa Maria -- The state of california is downsizing. This weekend state-owned vehicles and other non-essential items are being sold to raise cash. California state vehicles and other equipment deemed non-essential will go on the auction block Saturday in Colton.

The sale is part of Governor Jerry brown's executive order back in January to have all state agencies and departments sell items not being used. Trucks, buses, boats, cars, and even a fire truck, are all up for grabs. The starting bids are low, for example the opening bid for a fire truck from Los Alamitos is a thousand bucks. Much of the bidding will be done on line. Steve Gorin with The Auction Company says, "25 percent of the bidders are online. That's not including the 300 to 500 people, and they're worldwide. We ship stuff out in containers all over the world."

500 hundred people are expected to participate in the auction  The state is expected to make 300-thousand dollars.Last week,  the state made more than 580-thousand dollars auctioning off 400 items in Northern California. The Colton auction Saturday will be the largest state sale in southern California. The auction company does not accept returns and advises buyers to do their homework before they bid on anything.
