Man Who Molested 4-year-old Girl Sentenced

Posted: Updated:

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Jeffrey Parish, who admitted to molesting a 4-year-old Carpinteria girl, has received a maximum prison sentence of 10 years and 8 months for molesting Jane Doe 1.

Parish's primary accuser and her mother spoke to reporters after Tuesday's sentencing.

Parish fled to Guatemala to avoid prosecution before being found and extradited by the FBI and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department.

The court also heard there were several other molestation victims of Parish, but that could not be used against him due to the statute of limitations.

Parish pled no contest in August to the felony charges against him and also admitted to fleeing to Guatemala. That's where he lived for almost 20 years before he was caught.

The man accused of aiding Parish while he was in Guatemala, Luis Urbina, is still in the court process.

Parish said one of the reasons he pleaded no contest was to hopefully lessen Urbina's sentence.
