VANDENBERG VILLAGE, Calif.- More than 100 good samaritans came together to help find two girls that went missing Tuesday night.
The two eight year old girls went missing around 7:00 PM near the Cabrillo High School softball fields. Family members said they let the girls play around the school while the brother of one of the girls was at football practice.
After the football practice, family members were unable to locate the girls which prompted a full blown search effort. Five Deputies, 16 Search and Rescue personnel, Military police, a Santa Barbara County Helicopter, and canine teams were dispatched. A reverse 911 call also prompted over 100 people to help in the search for the two cousins.
After searching for several hours, the two girls were located. The girls told searchers they tried to follow a trail to a pond in the area but became lost in heavy brush. The area is largely undeveloped and have numerous trails through wooded areas.
Both girls were returned back to Cabrillo High School where they were reunited with their families.
