Trial Set for Florida Man Accused of Profiling and Killing Teen

Posted: Updated:

ORLANDO, Florida - George Zimmerman, the man accused of killing a Florida teen back in February, will stand trial on June 10, 2013, according to CNN.

Zimmerman is being charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in a Sanford, Florida neighborhood.

At the time, Zimmerman was a member of the neighborhood watch program and claims Martin charged him after getting into an argument.

Zimmerman said it was an act of self-defense after Martin knocked him to the ground and began hitting his head against the sidewalk.

Prosecutors tell a different story. They claim Zimmerman profiled Martin as a criminal and killed him, despite no wrong doings.

The killing created protests and vigils all across the country. Teens throughout the country began wearing hoodies to represent Martin and used the motto, "Am I next?"
