SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Starting November 1, anglers will not be able to fish deeper than 300 feet between Point Conception and the Mexican Border.
It is 60 feet less than normal and will be in effect until the new year.
Fish and Game say they made this decision because of the higher than normal incidental intake of cowcod, a large, deep-sea-living species of rockfish.
The species was declared over fished back in 1999.
