Public Speaks Out About What They Want To See In a New Chief of Police

Posted: Updated:

SANTA MARIA, Calif.- After a year of violence rocked the community of Santa Maria, the city let the public speak out about what they want in their next top cop Monday evening.

The meeting was held at Santa Maria City Hall where City Manager, Rick Hayden passed out a piece of paper to everyone who attended, asking them what priorities the new police chief should focus on.

The city began a nationwide recruitment for the next Chief of Police in September and is accepting applications through 5:00pm on Wednesday, November 14th.

A similar meeting will be held Tuesday evening for Spanish speakers at the Veterans' Memorial Center.

If you live in Santa Maria and want to offer your input, go online to the city's website at www.ci.santa-maria.ca.us.
