Two Hollywood Icons Go Head to Head in Presidential Ads

Posted: Updated:

In your Campaign 2012 Coverage, some national ads are making a splash today. Clint Eastwood is pushing his support for Mitt Romney, but he's not the only celebrity hitting the small screen right now. Morgan Freeman is showing his support for President Barack Obama in a new campaign ad.

It seems to be a battle between President Barack Obama versus Mitt Romney and Clint Eastwood versus Morgan Freeman. At one point both Freeman and Eastwood were cast mates in the 1992 film Unforgiven. Now they're head to head over politics. "Our enemies have been brought to justice," Freeman announced during his narration of Challenges, a new ad released by the Obama Campaign. The ad illustrated the tough obstacles the president faced.

Another Hollywood favorite and former Carmel mayor, had something different to say about the commander in chief in a separate attack ad. "Obama's second term would be a rerun of the first one. Our country just couldn't survive that."

This isn't the first time celebrity endorsements have grabbed national headlines. Last month we asked voters how much celebrities like Clint Eastwood could impact the election after he spoke at the republican national convention. The answers were mixed. "I think the first initial reaction if they like Clint Eastwood they'll vote," said Bridget Ross.

Other voters told us not matter how many celebrities try to impact the vote, it won't phase them. "Clint Eastwood is one of my heroes but I don't care if he's Republican, or Democrat or Libertarian. It doesn't sway my vote at all," said Matthew Orlando. So we took this new poll to Facebook... Could Morgan Freeman or Clint sway how you think? The consensus was no.

The two new ads featuring Freeman and Eastwood will continue to air across the country, with a bigger emphasis in battleground states.
