ORCUTT, Calif. - The Ride 2 Recovery is continuing its way down the Central Coast. Today the hundreds of cyclists went from Pismo Beach into Santa Barbara County.
People cheered on the riders and waved American flags as they rode into Orcutt. Waiting for them was a table full of food for a lunchtime meal. The ride is part of a rehab program for injured veterans. For them, the public's support is a huge boost to keep on riding.
Alison Green was one of the injured veterans on the ride. She grew up in Santa Maria and says "it means so much to us to have people take the time to just come out and wave and say 'hey congratulations on coming back and working towards a more positive future'. It was incredible."
The cyclists will stay in Solvang tonight. Friday morning they will set out to Ventura. The 450-mile ride ends Sunday in Los Angeles.
