NEAR CUYAMA, Calif.- The California Highway Patrol says a 31-year-old Santa Maria man is dead after a car accident near Cuyuma.
It happened in the area of Kirschenmann Road east of the town of Cuyama just before 8:00pm Saturday. According to CHP, the 31-year-old man was driving a 1999 Cadillac when he collided with a 44-year-old man driving a 2011 Dodge Ram. CHP says the 31-year-old man, who has not been identified, was passing a car ahead of him when he failed to see the Dodge Ram.
CHP says the man died at the scene. The driver of the Dodge Ram was airlifted to Kern County Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
