Suspect Named in Paso Robles Shoot Out

PASO ROBLES,Calif- More information has been revealed in the shoot out that happened Saturday in Paso Robles. The CHP officer, whose identity still hasn't been released, was let go from Sierra Vista hospital on Saturday. As for the suspect, he still remains hospitalized, guarded at an unnamed local facility.

The suspect is 22-year-old Clifford Albert Scott Jr. from San Diego. According to San Luis Obispo County Sheriffs, he took off from a CHP officer from highway 101 into Paso Robles off Spring St. Scott then crashed his car near Spring and 13th. He then ran from the officer. Shortly after both men drew their guns, fired at each other and fell on 14th and Park. The number of shots fired has not yet been released.

The CHP officer involved in the shooting is 30 years old and a 6 year veteran to the agency. He is currently an officer at the CHP office in Templeton. He remains on administrative leave, which is common after an incident like this.

Scott has been booked into San Luis Obispo County jail for attempted murder and CHP is conducting an internal investigation.
