Santa Barbara— The Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office is releasing the following statistics for the Halloween public safety operation in Isla Vista from Friday, October 26, through Sunday, October 28, 2012:

Search and Rescue Calls 19
Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue and Ventura County Search and Rescue provided several dozen volunteers who responded to medical emergencies in the congested areas on Del Playa and the surrounding streets where vehicles were unable to navigate.
Many of those patients were transported to a triage tent set up by Santa Barbara County Emergency Medical Services. Those requiring further medical treatment were transported via American Medical Response ambulances to local hospital emergency rooms.
One subject sustained a severe neck / head injured after falling from a rooftop.
There were no reported falls off the Isla Vista cliffs.
Through the use of the 'AVIOD the 12' grant, Santa Barbara Police and Lompoc Police assisted the Goleta Traffic Unit in DUI saturation patrols for the Goleta area Friday and Saturday nights.
The two day operation resulted in 3 DUI arrests and 55 citations being issued. Funding for 'AVOID the 12' was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The California Highway Patrol increased patrols in the area between Highway 101 and Isla Vista Friday and Saturday nights.
During that time, the CHP reported 14 alcohol related arrests, 9 of which were D.U.I.'s, and issued 310 citations.
It will be several weeks before the cost of the weekend operation can be determined.
