Local Red Cross Volunteers Are Helping People Caught in Storm Sandy

CAMARILLO, Calif. -- Local Red Cross groups are assisting with Storm Sandy aid. So far more than 3,200 people have stayed the night in 112 Red Cross shelters.

Shelters have been set up in nine states where the storm is likely to hit; New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and Massachusetts.

Volunteers from Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties have sent two volunteers already to help with Storm Sandy relief efforts. So far there are already 1,300 volunteers helping out with storm relief efforts.   

The Red Cross is asking for monetary donations to help pay for relief efforts. If you would like to support the Red Cross you can donate at a local chapter or visit www.redcross.org or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
