SANTA MARIA, Calif. - People working to recall the Santa Maria-Bonita School District Board Member Will Smith tell Central Coast News their efforts have failed.
The grassroots community committee to recall Will Smith did not get enough signatures on the petition before yesterday's 5pm deadline. They collected 4,383 signatures and were about 600 shy of the required amount to recall him.
The process to recall Smith started in May. They say his alleged belligerent and combative style and personality toward fellow school board trustees and the public has made it virtually impossible for the Santa Maria-Bonita Unified School District to conduct business in a timely and efficient manner.
