SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Old Mission Cemetery is a historic part of Santa Barbara with more than 480 families entombed there.
Built in 1978 most think of the cemetery as just a piece of history or a place to visit but it's also a living cemetery.
The mausoleum has been expanded and has room for those who want to make the mission their final resting place.
The newly renovated mausoleum holds more than 800 niches that can fit up to two urns each.
"The place is beautiful. Santa Barbara is fantastic and the ocean view right over there…who wouldn't want to look at that for eternity?" says cemetery visitor Jessica Hopper.
According to the cemetery, they want to reestablish that it is and always has been an active cemetery.
