SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Cuesta College officials say all classes will resume normally on Thursday. All evening classes were been canceled on Wednesday night due to a second power outage to strike the campus in the past week.
The outage began at about 3:30 p.m. Cuesta College officials announced that night classes were canceled about an hour later.
Officials say the cause was 40 year old wiring that was scheduled to be updated in December.
Cal Fire crews were also called after an employee smelled smoke in the 1000 building around 5 p.m. No one was occupying the building at the time. Crews were able to fan out the smoke. The 1000 building will be closed until the power is fixed.
The outage only affected the San Luis Obispo Campus. Last Thursday, a turkey vulture fell on to a power line, causing a power outage that also canceled all evening classes at the same campus. Cuesta officials say the two outages are not related.
