Local Veterans To Be Honored By Elementary School In Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA, Calif. – With Veteran's Day approaching this Sunday, Sanchez School in Santa Maria will honor local veterans on Friday, November 9th during a morning ceremony. Veterans from all armed forces are invited to attend. Each veteran in attendance will be individually honored by school principal Richard Ruiz. The school expects veterans from World War II to present time to be honored at the school, which is located at 804 West Liberty Street in Santa Maria. For more information, see story below.

On Friday, November 9, at 9 a.m., students at Sanchez School will hold a special ceremony to honor Veterans. Men and women who have served in the armed forces have been invited to attend and be recognized for their service to our country.

The principal, Richard Ruiz, will introduce each Veteran by name, branch and war/conflict, if applicable.  The students will recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Kindergarten classes are singing two songs, This Land is Your Land & Three Colored Flag.  First grade students will sing "You're a Grand Old Flag."  A fourth grade class will recite the Preamble to the Constitution.  Third grade children will sing "Thank You Soldiers."  Other students will read essays about Veterans/Veterans Day to the distinguished guests. The school expects to host soldiers who served in the Vietnam War, Korean War, Gulf War and even World War II. 

The ceremony will take place in the courtyard area of the school at 804 West Liberty St.
