Multiple Car Accidents on the 101 in Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - One accident turned into much larger issue this morning on the southbound 101. At around 7 A.M. there was an accident involving two cars near the right shoulder between the Stowell and Betteravia exits.

A short time after that, another accident occurred nearby that sent one car down the embankment off the side of the freeway. After that, another 2 car accident occurred. One of the vehicles fled in that incident. Six cars total were involved, including the hit-and-run car.

One woman was transported to the hospital. Everyone else left uninjured.
