SACRAMENTO, Calif.-- It looks as though Democrats will soon be firmly in control of the state legislature.
Election results aren't yet final, but unexpected victories in a couple of key state races have likely given democrats a two-thirds majority in both the Assembly and the state Senate.
It would be the first time one party has controlled both houses with a supermajority since 19-33.
It would give democrats the ability to override Governor's vetoes, raise taxes and pass other measures without cooperation from Republicans.
To capture two-thirds control of both houses, Democrats needed to pick up two seats in the Senate and four in the Assembly.
