Friends Remember UCSB Student Found At Bottom Of Isla Vista Cliffs

ISLA VISTA, Calif. -- The body of the UCSB student found at the bottom of the Isla Vista Cliffs has been identified as Physics Major, David Propp.

Propp was a talented singer in an acapella group at UCSB.

"David was the best kind of person," says fellow acapella singer Nolan Theurer. "He was the kindest gentlest soul"

He was majoring in Physics and wanted to become a dentist. His fellow singers called him brother. SOT

"He always had a smile for you," says Theurer. "Enthusiastic about everything he was doing and everything you were doing and those people are rare."

Propp's dead body was found at the bottom of the Isla Vista cliffs with injuries consistent with a fall.

Some of the massive cliffs in Isla Vista don't have railing and a person who falls off can face a 30 to 40 foot drop.

A safe Christian boy, Propp was never known to party too close to the cliffs so when his friends got the call, they were shocked.

IAN CHARBONNET

"It was kind of one of those 'Oh no' moments," says fellow acapella singer Ian Charbonnet. "It couldn't be him...No way, not David. Heaven is where is and it sucks not to have your brother around."

But for Ian and Nolan the music goes on.

Propp's memorial will be held at the UCSB Recreation Center at 2pm on November 14th.

"The world loses a little brightness with him gone," says Thuerer. "But it's so much better for having had him in it...and I'm better for it too."
