LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. – After a whirlwind first week of action in the CIF-SS/Ford 2012 Football Championships, presented by Farmers Insurance, the second round schedule has been set.
In the Western Division, two-time defending CIF champion Lompoc, which is coming off a 42-7 win over St. Francis, will be on the road this Friday to face Culver City, the third seed from the Ocean League. The Centurions advanced to the second round with a 30-24 win over Dos Pueblos. Morro Bay, which pulled an upset at Inglewood, has earned a home game versus Chaminade. The Pirates will have their hands full with the Eagles, the second seed from the Ocean League.
In the Northern Division, Atascadero will be home with a second round match-up with Canyon. The Greyhounds knocked off top seeded Palmdale 27-6 in one of the biggest upsets in the entire Southern Section. Canyon enters the game fresh off a 42-9 rout of San Luis Obispo.
Mission Prep, the top seed in the Northeast Division, will be on the road at Flintridge Prep in La Cañada Flintridge, the second seed from the Prep League. The Rebels are coming off an upset of 34-28 Arrowhead League champion Ribet Academy, while the Royals routed Frazier Mountain 41-8.
Tri-Valley League champion and Northwest Division top seed Bishop Diego will take on Village Christian in Sun Valley.
All second round games will be played on Friday, November 16 and are scheduled to kickoff at 7:30pm.
