NIPOMO, Calif.- Friends of 24-year-old Christopher Tietjen says he spent most of his days at Achievement House in Santa Maria.
"He didn't show up for work today he didn't show up to work yesterday either, so I was wondering what happened to him," says Andy Ranstrom, a former friend of Tietjen.
Friends and co-workers of Tietjen say he worked for the nonprofit, which serves adults with developmental disabilities, for a little over a year now.
Sometime between late Sunday night and Monday morning the unthinkinable happened, Tietjen was struck and killed by a car as he was walking on north Thompson Avenue.@
"The reason why he took so many walks because he got tired of his home life, just very unpleased about it, he was always telling me he wanted to get his own place," says Ranstrom.
If we jump back to 2010, Tietjen was arrested after he was found near Dana Elementary School talking to young girls and at the time was also on probation from a similar offense.
As of Tuesday evening, CHP is still looking for the driver who hit and killed Tietjen. The car is described as light green 2004-2009 Toyota Prius. CHP asks the public if you may have seen the car come into an auto body shop to contact them at (805) 593-3333.
