Two Hikers Rescued on Veterans Day

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Two hikers were rescued on Veterans Day after getting lost while hiking on the Tunnel Trail / Seven Falls area.

Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue volunteers were called out at 7 p.m. Sunday evening to locate and rescue two Santa Barbara residents after they called dispatch for help.  A male and female in their early 20's got lost after hiking down the mountain from Cathedral Peak. 

While trying to navigate in the dark, the female hiker injured her ankle.  Search and Rescue teams, along with Santa Barbara County Fire, were able to find the hikers around 8:15 p.m. near the Seven Falls pools.

Both hikers were assisted down the trail and back to their car at the Tunnel Road trail head.  The injured hiker was evaluated and released by medical personnel.
