Minuteman III Launch At Vandenberg

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. - An Air Force Global Strike Command Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile equipped with a simulated reentry vehicle successfully launched this morning at 3:07 AM from Launch Facility 10 on North Vandenberg.

The Air Force says the purpose of the launch program is to validate and verify the effectiveness, readiness and accuracy of the weapon system.

Officials say the 30th Space Wing Western Range safety operations went as planned during the flight test.
