Fire at SLO County Honor Farm Causes Major Damage

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - A fire at the SLO County Sheriff's Honor Farm burns up property, but no persons were injured.

According to the Sheriff's Department, on Monday at approximately 8:20pm a fire alarm sounded for the Industries Building at the Sheriff's Honor Farm.

The Industries Building houses one of the laundry facilities, various supplies and a workshop. Correctional Deputies responded to the building and saw the windows to the doors blow out and flames and smoke coming from the building.

Correctional Deputies used a fire hose that was adjacent to the building to suppress the fire until fire personnel arrived and extinguished it. No persons were present inside the building at the time of the fire and no injuries were sustained by staff or inmates. The building received major damage and the cause of the fire was electrical.
