State Employment Development Department Under Scrutiny

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The State Employment Development Department is under scrutiny. The state auditor says that during the last fiscal year, more than 17 million calls went unanswered.

That means many Californians are having a difficult time getting help on unemployment insurance claims.

The audit says that many callers did get through, but the automated system hung up on them.

The suggestion is to manage and monitor the calls better.
