Creek Fire Now 100-Percent Contained

Posted: Updated:

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif-  The Creek fire in Montana De Oro State Park is now 100 percent contained. The prescribed burn jumped containment lines Tuesday morning, lighting up an additional 100 acres. Cal Fire has not lost control of a prescribed burn since the 90s. Crews will remain on scene today patrolling for hot spots.

The prescribed burn included 430 acres. It will help to suppress the potential for future wildfires, it will also provide better habitat for animals and plants.  "We see flowers after a fire like this that we haven't seen since the last fire, so next spring when we go out there we'll see a whole bouquet of flowers as well as grasses and other species," said Chief Lewin.
