Friends Grieve Over Hit and Run Victim, React to Arrest

NIPOMO, Calif- The California Highway Patrol says they finally tracked down and arrested the woman accused of hitting and killing a Nipomo man with her car earlier this week. Friends of Christopher Tietjen say they're grieving the loss of their friend, but now after an arrest has been made, one friend says he has closure.

"I'm glad they finally caught the person that did, now justice will be served," says Andy Ranstrom, a former friend of Tietjen.

Andy Ranstrom says he's having a hard time realizing he will never get to see his friend Christopher Tietjen again, all because of what CHP says 23-year-old Marie Coyner did.

"Hopefully that person won't see daylight for a while because of what she did was totally wrong," says Ranstrorm.

California Highway Patrol says Coyner was driving on north Thompson Avenue south of Willow Road when she ran over and killed Tietjen sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning, and after hitting Tietjen, she took off.

"It's cowardness and for me its going to take me quite a bit to get over it," says Ranstrom.

We know Coyner is from the Nipomo area and was driving a light green 2007 Toyota Prius.

As for Ranstrom, he says he still has unanswered questions, "what was her excuse for doing that, what was the main reason behind all of this?"

Coyner has been booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail with bail at $50,000 and charged for felony hit and run and vehicular manslaughter.
