Five Arrested in Santa Cruz Homeless Death

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Santa Cruz police arrested four more people, it believes are connected to the death of a 51 year old homeless man late Friday night.

Central Coast News first reported police arrested 26 year old Jeremiah Long early Saturday morning in connection to the man who was found dead at his campsite near Depot Park.

Investigators have now arrested 21 year old Shaelyn Gonzales and 41 year old Michael Hudson, 43 year old Tina Anderson, 31 year old Jason Weiland, all are also homeless in Santa Cruz.

All five are being charged with murder.  Investigators are working to determine if there were any additional suspects in the case. 

 

Investigators believe that there was an altercation at the campsite before the homicide, however, they are working to determine exactly what it was over and what the motive for the homicide was. 

An autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death is being performed today. It is unclear when the results will be available from the Coroner's Office.  At this point nearest kin to the victim has not been located therefore his name has not been released. It will be released as soon as family is located.
