ISLA VISTA, Calif. - A fight in Isla Vista, leads to a University of Santa Barbara Student charged for attempted murder after. The suspect allegedly stabbed a victim, sending them to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff Department, "at approximately 4:00am on November 18, 2012, Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office Deputies and UCPD Officers responded to a report of a fight involving a man with a knife in front of a business in the 800 block of Embarcadero Del Norte. When deputies arrived they located multiple subjects including a victim with stab wounds, another victim with blunt force trauma to the head and multiple witnesses. All parties reported that they observed an Asian male suspect attack the victims in front of the business. The stabbing victim suffered approximately (6) wounds to his body including his back, wrists and side. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was taken into surgery for life threatening injuries. The other victim with blunt force trauma was treated and released at the scene.
The investigation continued and led deputies to a residence near the business, also in the 800 block of Embarcadero Del Norte. Deputies contacted the occupants and arrested UCSB student – Peter Cho (DOB 2-25-92). Cho was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail for violation of 664/187 P.C. – Attempted murder with bail set at $500,000.00. He was also charged with 245P.C. – Assault with a deadly weapon, and 135 P.C. – Destroying or concealing evidence. A knife was located at the residence along with other items and booked as evidence.
The victim in this incident with six stab wounds is currently in stable condition at Cottage Hospital.
