Phoebe Hearst Cooke, Granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst, Dies at 85

SAN SIMEON, Calif. - Phoebe Hearst Cooke, granddaughter of media mogul William Randolph Hearst, passed away over the weekend after battling pneumonia.

The 85 year old died on Sunday at Twin Cities Hospital in Templeton.

Hearst Cooke served on the Hearst Corporation Board of Directors for 36 years and was deeply involved in the family's business and charitable foundation.  She also was involved in preserving the Hearst Castle in San Simeon.

She was preceded in death by her twin brother, George Hearst Junior, who died in June.
