Market in Chualar Robbed at Gunpoint Monday Night

CHUALAR, Calif. - Monterey County Sheriff deputies responded to an armed robbery of a small business in Chualar just after 6 Monday night.

Deputies said it happed at Amigo's Market on Grant St. when two Hispanic males entered the store wearing black clothing and ski masks. Both men were armed with black handguns and demanded everyone inside to lie down on the floor.

The market was open and had both customers and employees inside. Reports showed that employees became scared and ran from behind the counter. The suspects fled from the scene after receiving no money.

Before leaving, one of the men fired a round into the store. The shot landed into a nearby display shelf. No one was injured during the robbery.

Deputies are looking for anyone that may have any information about the incident.
