SAN FRANCISCO--Black Friday shopping for holiday gifts? People are going back to the basics this holiday season according to new research.

The number one gift isn't the iPhone or a tablet.

According to a scientific survey representative of all of America, the number one gift for men and women is… clothes!

And the number one gift for those 8-18… laptops!

In fact, Ebates.com, the online cash-back place for 1,500 of America's largest stores, surveyed 2,059 adults and 1,121 kids (8-18) and discovered:

· Gadgets aren't the number one Holiday gift adults want-clothes are, with a vacation following next on their list.

· Parents shopping for kids should be looking for laptops this weekend since they ranked number one on Christmas lists by children age 8-18-beating both the iPhone and iPad.

· If you're shopping for the man in your life, keep in mind his ideal gift may not be something he can wear-- 5% of men did say they would like a spa day (versus 26% of women)

Buyers for mom or sister -- more women want E-readers like the Kindle or Nook (10% versus 5% of men)
