Car Crash Lands Driver Behind Bars

BUELLTON, Calif.- The California Highway Patrol says a Santa Ynez man has been arrested after a car crash in Buellton.

CHP says Benjamin Bettencourt, 39, struck a tree while driving on Highway 246 east of Ballard Canyon Road at about 9:20 Saturday night. The passenger in the car is being treated for major injuries. CHP says Bettencourt had minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and no word if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
