Record Breaking Cyber Monday Sales

Posted: Updated:

Santa Maria -- Millions of shoppers across the country took advantage of Cyber Monday deals breaking online shopping records. According To IBM Digital Analytics Benchmark overall Cyber Monday sales are up more than 30-percent from last year.

Online sales peaked at 8:25 yesterday morning. Shoppers spent on average 185-dollars a purchase. Online sales were up this year for department stores, apparel, and home goods. Mobile devices account for about 13-percent of sales, with iPads and iPhones used the most.

Experts say one advantage online shoppers have, aside from all the cyber Monday deals and incentives, is the ability to easily compare prices at different retailers to find the best option for them.

The term Cyber Monday was coined back in 2005 and sales on this online shopping day have grown ever since.  This year Cyber Monday sales are estimated at 1.5 billion dollars.
