Cal/OSHA Fines Atascadero State Hospital For Assaults on Staff

ATASCADERO, Calif. - The State Division of Occupational Safety and Health, also known as Cal/OSHA, has fined Atascadero State Hospital for dangerous conditions and patient assaults on employees.

Official documents show that the hospital was fined $27,675.  The hospital was also cited for incomplete record keeping and "serious violations" regarding ongoing patient assaults on employees.

The hospital has seen an increasing number of attacks. In October, three workers were injured after patients attacked them. Later that month, a patient was attacked by another patient.
